History

NARI Greater Cleveland began as the Cleveland Home Improvement Council back in 1962. It was the result of President Eisenhower's 1956 effort Operation Home Improvement - a national campaign that emphasized the rehabilitation of existing housing rather than new construction.

The National Home Improvement Council emerged from this effort with the very first chapter located in Cleveland, Ohio. As the home improvement industry continued to grow, the National Remodelers Association and the National Home Improvement Council joined forces to create the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in 1982.

In 2004 the Board of Directors voted to create Professional Remodelers of Ohio (PRO) - a statewide organization focused to represent our members on local legislative issues. However, with the change in the tone and function of government, there have been more issues and legislation effecting the home improveoment industry on a federal level. Therefore, in 2011, PRO Members and the Board of Directors voted to affiliate with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, which would provide representation in both national and local legislative issues, as well as education and certification programs for the association.

Throughout each transition, our mission remained the same - This association exists to professionalize the remodeling industry, while serving as an ally to homeowners.

We continue to be an organization that offers the best value, the best programs, and the best solutions for its members, while being the best advocate for consumers, the remodeling industry and the professional remodeler.
